The Wider World Project (WWP) is a group for young adults with additional support needs, aged 16 – 35 years, living in County Durham. The project provides positive opportunities that encourage the group members to feel active, responsible and respected. The young adults plan, develop and engage in a range of programmes which develop skills, confidence and promote positive disability awareness. The young adults develop understanding and confidence around subjects which interest them, working with others and as a team. Activities include developing the skills of planning and organising activities for others, fostering community links, working with other organisations, running a monthly community café, expressing ideas, thoughts and feelings through a range of art medium and wellbeing activities, independence skills, decision making, cookery, money management and healthy lifestyles. The Wider World Project (WWP) is a not for profit project, under the umbrella of, but separate from The Cheesy Waffles Project.
